About the Author
I am now a children’s books author and my first of the series, Dolly May and the Magical Enchanted Gardenpublished 26th May 2019. Written to inspire, educate and stretch the imagination of children enabling them to dream big and to realize their full potential. The books bring black history to schools, children, their parents, the communities, in a new, fun, fresh and uplifting way.
I am an experienced Personal Development Coach and Mentor as well as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.
I live in Trafford, Manchester but spent my early childhood growing up in the beautiful countryside of Mount Olive, Ginger Ridge, on the Caribbean Island of Jamaica.
As a child, I resided with my grandmother whilst my parents moved to the UK in search of economic freedom. Later, I lived with my aunt Merlyn, her husband and their children due to my grandmother’s ill health. I grew up with a love of books and writing introduced to me by aunt Merlyn who was a school teacher and later encouraged by my younger sister Claudette.
While I was growing up and when I became a mother I struggled to find picture books with children that look like me and my children.
Whilst, working with disadvantaged children and young people in the care system, my passion for writing was reignited. My wish is for children and young people to feel empowered to pursue their dreams and transform their lives.
